Can a visitor finish
the next step?

Choose one action—request a demo, join a waitlist or start a trial. Walk through these five checks before expanding your to-do list.

Mark a box when you have checked it, even if you found a problem. Your notes and checks stay in this page and are not sent or saved by First Friction. Copy your notes before leaving.

  1. Read only the first screen. Can a visitor name the intended customer, the problem and the result? If the headline could describe ten unrelated products, draft one that names the customer and the job.

Write down the current headline and one more specific alternative. The rewrite is a hypothesis, not a proven improvement.

  2. Does its destination match its wording? If the next screen joins a waitlist, the button should not promise immediate product access. Check the path on both phone and desktop.

Record the exact button label, destination and any unexpected commitment.

  3. In a test environment, try an empty required field or an invalid email. Is the error understandable, next to the field and easy to fix? Is previous input preserved?

Avoid unwanted live submissions, purchases or messages. If there is no safe test environment, mark this check as not tested.

  4. Can the visitor tell whether their request succeeded and what happens next? A button click or page visit alone does not confirm that a form or payment succeeded.

Compare the confirmation with the actual outcome. Record missing next steps or timing.

  5. Ask someone in the target audience to complete the main action without explaining the interface. Note hesitation and ask what they expected.

One test can reveal a problem. It does not measure a conversion rate or prove an increase in sales.

Choose the first fix.
